The passing of time…

What is that saying…time waits for no one.  I am in my 45th year and yesterday my youngest son turned 20.   I can remember so clearly when I was 20!  It doesn’t seem possible, but time definitely marches on.  Do you remember when you were younger and you couldn’t wait for the next birthday to arrive?  I find that the older I get the faster time seems to go by.  I want to take each moment and cherish it.  The great thing about writing is that it allows time to slow down as you look through your photos and see your life through the pages of your writing…especially if you are writing memoir.  This afternoon I have the great opportunity to spend time with Melitas (my most elderly student at age 92) and her best friend Annie (almost 92!).  These two women are amazing with their ability to recall all their stories of their youth.  What a shining example they are to the younger generation of what life can be like when you are in your 90’s.

So today as you write, think about the passing of time in your life.  What would you like to do differently at this time in your life that you are currently not doing.  Think about it and write about it and what is stopping you from adding a “new” chapter to your life story?
