One day until the big day!

Awww, we are getting close to our big day!  Tomorrow, my daughter, Kristen and I run our first half marathon!  I drove to Phoenix today and Kristen flew in from San Jose.

5 months of training and I am oh so ready! Today we pick up our official bibs and we will run tomorrow morning.

As I run this first run, I have dedicated it to one of my best friends, Teresa Thomas who passed away last month from breast cancer.  I am wearing pink and will be thinking of her each mile.

Life is precious and short, enjoy each day…

  1. Tammy and Kristen, Nothing compares to the thrill of crossing the finish line when one runs a 1/2 or a full Marathon, except maybe successfully climbing Popocatepetl, (second highest peak in Mexico,an active volcano at an elevation of 17,800 feet) or walking the Inca trail from Bolivia into Peru. It is an experience like I would imagine a rock star feels. When it is all over you will relive the cheers, congratulatory remarks, excitement of an organized race, and a feeling of worthiness will engulf you. You will forget the pains and aches – it is like child birth! Once that baby is put in your arms – You can’t remember the labor pains.
Wishing you two both lots of luck for a successful injury free run. My spirit will be there side by side urging you on one step at a time!

    God speed.

    • Thank you Alba, you have been my inspiration… I still can’t believe that the date is finally here. The only thing that would make this day even more special would be if you were able to see me run my first race…but guess what…when I run in Palm Springs I know you will be there to cheer me on! Love you Alba!!
