I have just returned from an amazing trip to Miami, Florida.
I have never really been around Cuban Americans before and I was introduced to a whole new group of friends by my traveling companion.
I was able to run 3 of the days of my trip, clocking in 0ver 25 miles in those 3 days. I was introduced to cafe con leche and was taught how to dunk your toast in it, cuban toast of course.
The most beautiful part of my trip was being a part of the cuban culture. My new group of friends are warm and amazing. They welcomed me with open arms. Even though I didn’t always understand all of the conversations (since they go back and forth from spanish to english so quickly that my ears were numb)…but the beauty of a smile and a kiss and a hug is universal for everybody.
I was touched by the stories I heard from how they came to America. Each was different but my heart ached as I learned of their plight.
I am changed forever by the beauty of these amazing friends…I can’t wait to visit them all again!
Well, if I had been there, I would’ve been looking up my friends who work in the CSI with Horatio. Happy to hear you were running around seeing all the sights. I have never been to Miami so am jealous. I may go sometime, but it will be by train. Melitas
Dear Tammy,
We are glad that you enjoy your visit to Miami. Next time you have to come with more time, so we can visit the Keys. It was a pleasure meeting you as well. Now you know why, Cubans are known for been so loud!!!! Every one speak at the same time… Even for us is hard to understand each other.
Hope to see you soon, and you know that now you have friends in Miami.
Big kiss to you!!!
