Today was our last meeting of this year. We won’t meet again until October. I have enjoyed my first year on the board as the scholarship chair and we were able to award 8 $1,000 scholarships to young women graduating from high school and entering college. These young women excelled in either music, writing or art.
I was honored to be selected to read a piece that I had written on an artist’s rendition of a woman looking at her journal. I wanted to share what I wrote:
I see myself through my words
My remarkable life penned out before me
A journey through time and place forever documented
Page by page my wisdom grows
Who is this young woman in these journals?
I turn each page and see the beauty of the flow of my life…
Reminisce…a walk down memory lane
Once a young woman in love and full of wonder
Now just memories of days gone by.
Reflect… on all the wonder of my unique life
Old memories come flooding back as I relive the pages
Of days gone by.
Alone with my words, my truth, my essence.
My beauty is captured forever in my journal.
I gently smile as I close my journal, a life lived like no other.
My life, my journey, myself.
