Yesterday was our first outing of the year with some of the women from my writer’s workshop. We met at the Yard House for lunch and then went to the movie. We saw the movie “It’s Complicated” with Meryl Streep. As I sat there watching the movie, totally enthralled by my favorite actress, I realized how much like real life the movie portrayed. Not so much the fact that women who have been divorced for over 10 years would have a relationship with an ex, but in how we can complicate our lives. Yes, it is we who complicate. In the movie Jane Adler, played by Streep, has a wonderful life with a thriving business that she loves and 3 grown children…then it gets complicated.
How many times have “we” stepped in and complicated our lives with our plans. It corresponded beautifully with our Friday topic of how we have historically or habitually stood in our way, and how we have derailed ourselves.
As we enjoy the day and start a new week, I am going to examine how I can take out some of the stress in my life that I have brought in and make it less complicated…I think I will start right now!
