Art of gratitude

I’ve always been drawn to photography over other visual arts.  Some think photography is unimaginative because you can’t create a photograph out of nothingness, as you can with a blank canvas and pastels or watercolors.  But there is something magical about photography: it requires that we find the beauty that already exists in the world and capture it.  We create with what we are already given.  It is an art of gratitude.

The word photography literally means “writing with light.”  We often think of light as a static presence that varies depending on the time of day.  But what if we remember that light is always in motion.  It is the fastest traveler.  And when it arrives at us, we absorb some of it and we reflect some of it-giving those around us a glimpse of who we are.  Light illuminates.  It helps us see what really.  My writing goal to you today is to shine your light a little brighter at your wonderful life.  Peruse those photographs and marvel at the wonderful person you are…
