“If you can see your path laid out in front of you  step by step, you know it’s not your path.  Your own path you make with every step you take.  That’s why it’s your path.”  Joseph Campbell

The above picture is of one of my favorite trails here in the desert.  I call this my Reflection/Releasing Hike. (I love the blue skies of the desert!)  I think another very useful tool to keep in our toolkit is the tool of reflection.  Reflecting on our life has so many healing aspects to it.  Reflect on the people who have come into your life: family, friends, teachers, etc.  How have they impacted your life?  Reflect on the growth you have made in your life.  When you have seen the most growth, what were the circumstances?  As I stated above, I call my hike the reflection/release hike.  As you reflect during this hike there are things you may want to release when you arrive at the top.  At the very top of this mountain is a special rock.  The rock is split in two and where the split is there are several small pieces of paper lodged inside.  These are my releasing notes.  I have released the fears of tomorrow there.  I have released those things that I have held on to that no longer serve me.  It is such a healing thing to do.

Start today by reflecting on your life journey.  Record your thoughts in your journal.  Are there some things you need to release from your life right now?  Try writing them out on a  piece of paper and either bury it or burn it or do like I do and find a split rock.  The tool of reflection is a meaningful tool in your toolkit!
