One of my closest friends told me something so simple yet profound.  Yesterday I was heading over to speak for the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta at their monthly luncheon and she said: “Be yourself, they will love you.”  The words ran right to my heart.  I think how true that would be for everyone…just be yourself.  But here is the thinking: to be yourself one must know yourself.  getting to know yourself is one of the hardest things we can do.  The paradox lies in the fact that we live our entire lives in these bodies of ours, yet seldom do we take the time to really examine and get to know ourselves.  Getting to know ourselves is all about looking at our whole person, the strengths and weaknesses.  When you look in the mirror, who do you see?  There is only one you.  Nobody has the ability to make people smile the way you do or to offer great advice the way you can.  What is it that you have, those hidden nuggets of your beautiful self that are just waiting to be uncovered by YOU!

Today in your writing look at yourself deeply.  Are you still the little child holding onto some of those doubts are fears?  Release them today in the safety of your writing and start cultivating the You of today.  Walk gently and mindfully today as you get to know you, the real you.  When you discover yourself, everyone will love you (at least all the everyones  that matter!)
