For the last few days we have had the most amazing weather!  Living in the desert we boast of sunshine some 355 days of the year, or so I have been told!  And yes, I do love the sunshine, but there is something so magical about a rain storm with thunder and lightning!  Yesterday morning I awoke to thunder and lightning and rain!  Andrea and I got in our van and we felt like real “storm chasers” as we searched for the darkest area.  We drove in the rain and wound up in the charming town of Julian which was having their annual apple festival.  We enjoyed a piece of warm apple pie with whipped cream and then headed down the road.  We came to a charming little town called Warner Springs, I had never been there before and I saw a sign that said “What a day”…the road led us off the beaten path to a winery called Shadow Mountain.  Inside we met the winemaker Alex and his wife Pamela.  I love wine tasting and what a treat as she not only shared her love for wine but so much knowledge!  We both loved the wines they made and what a find as I found out that they have the perfect property to do some on site workshops!  Pamela is a wonderful chef with a fully stocked commercial kitchen.  I am looking forward to bringing my students up to Warner Springs for a day of workshops, wine tasting and relaxation in a beautiful part of California!  I love not following a schedule, but being open to where a road may lead you…
