Yesterday was the Santa Paws Run with proceeds going to Guide Dogs of the Desert.  It was such a fun run with everybody wearing Santa suits and lots of dogs on the run.  There were big dogs and small dogs.  I love supporting a great cause and this is one of them.  At the end there were dog treats and cookies and milk for the Santa’s.

On their website it says that every 7 minutes someone in America becomes blind.  That is a staggering statistic.  I have a friend named Barbara Norman who foster’s the guide dogs for 18 months and then gives them to a blind person.  I was thinking today what a beautiful thing to do.  I personally would become so attached it would break my heart.    I have great respect for her and for this amazing organization.  This is from their website:

Guide Dogs of the Desert improves the lives of the blind by creating opportunities for life-changing independence, and by conducting community outreach and education programs.

Guide Dogs of the Desert provides safe mobility, loving companionship and the “miracle of independence” to the blind through the use of a guide dog.

is better than walking alone in the light.”
