Recently I overheard one of my elderly students talking about the game of cribbage.  I inquired if she still played and she told me she only gets to play when her nephew comes to town every few months.  I told her that I was taught to play cribbage when I was a little girl by my grandfather.  I can still remember sitting out on his porch in Pennsylvania while he counted “fifteen-two, fifteen-four…”   She was excited when I told her that I loved the game but probably couldn’t remember how to play since it had been years, but I would love to try again.  Last night was our first game.  I was amazed at how the memories flooded in as I indeed did remember how to play the game.  Sitting with my elderly friend warmed my heart as she told me that she too was taught to play this game from her grandfather.  I look forward to playing with her again and this morning I want to encourage you as you write today to rediscover some of your memories of your childhood.  What are some of the games you used to play as a child?  What were some of your favorite meals your mother would make for the family?  Take a walk down memory lane and jot down some of your rediscovered memories…
