Over and over again, life asks us to let go. The seasons remind us that everything changes. The cycle of life and aging and death requires that we release our compulsion to control time. We are always learning the lesson of letting go, and the process of writing offers us multiple opportunities to practice. On one level, we know that we will ultimately have to let go of our journals and memoirs just as we will have to let go of our lives. Even as we try to preserve special moments, we are reminded that they are every bit as tenuous and fragile as life. Letting go of our emotions and as the words fill the page may sound like an emptying process, but it is really a key to living fully. Letting go is the doorway to surprises, the road to new discoveries, and a channel for blessings we never expected!
