Remember that show Fear Factor?  The premise, as I faintly recall, was that you were put in situations such as being with snakes, spiders or having to eat gross things.  If you could get past your fear you could win money.  Most of the stunts I would not have been able to handle.  But while I was on my run I started thinking about what were the things that I fear right now in my life.

Fear can hold us back from reaching our true potential.  I realized while I was running that for the most part I am pretty fearless, but what I wrote about yesterday in my blog regarding my dog Courtney is probably my biggest fear.  I do fear the day I have to tell her good-bye.  I have to be honest with you and say that I don’t know how I am going to manage without her.  Those of you who have special animals that you love may know what I am talking about.  Even now as I type this the tears are running down my cheeks because she is so much a part of my life.  I fear that without her I won’t be the same.  Does that sound crazy?

As I relate this topic to writing what fears are coming up in your life?  Do you fear you may run out of money before you run out of breath?  Do you fear the death of a spouse or the fear of alzheimer’s?  These are all very real fears that many of us face in our lives.

The truth of the matter is that some day we have to come face to face with our fears.  I guess when our fears become our reality that is when we see what we are really made of.  I hope and pray that I am strong enough when my fear becomes a reality.  But I also know that I don’t have to face my fear alone as I have a strong support system around me.

Today in your writing examine what fears you may have and what are they holding you back from.
