Today is our first official day as Palm Springs residents! I am always a bit verklempt with each move I make through life, but change is so good!
I am calling my new place Casa de Courtney because it is because of my dog that we have moved. Courtney has now been blind for nearly 6 weeks and watching her bump around the house is quite painful to see. Living in Indian Wells in a large home was just not conducive to meeting her needs, so the search began.
I found an adorable place a few weeks ago and have been slowly moving things over. Our new “pad” is perfect for us, Courtney already loves it and seems quite content.
A few things I will miss about Indian Wells. I will miss running my route and the beautiful flowers and mountain views. I loved the fact that I could run at 5 in the morning or 11 at night and feel very safe in the streets of IW. I always knew that I could outrun any resident in IW. IW is one of the cleanest cities I have ever seen, although on one run I was shocked to see a broken bottle on the side of the road, but upon further inspection it made me smile because it wasn’t a beer bottle but an expensive bottle of Chardonnay…it must have fallen out of someone’s golf cart while they were driving home!
As I adjust to my new surroundings I have decided a few things. I may have to trade in my golf clubs for miniature golf clubs and no more guitar lessons for me, I think a ukelele is more appropriate for Casa de Courtney.
I am excited to see what living in Palm Springs will be like, so far I love all my new neighbors and I am looking forward to finding my new running paths in Palm Springs! But most importantly Courtney loves her new “digs!”
Today in your writing examine some of your moves in your lifetime. What has been your favorite home, what was it that made it special?
