Melitas Update!

blog 2-6Hello everybody!  In case you were wondering our dear sweet Melitas was up and at ’em ready to attend a big reunion at her ol’ stompin’ grounds in San Juan Capistrano.  In her excitement at just arriving to the hotel, she wanted to quickly change into one of her many “tequila” shirts to head out to meet with the family.  In her haste she fell and landed on both her knees and luckily was stopped by her hard noggin.  The ever dutiful Alba AKA The Warden, rushed her to the emergency to doctor up her poor little knees…her head of course clear as ever!  Unfortunately she didn’t get to enjoy the reunion.

Upon her return home she went to see her Doctor who ordered her to get over to Eisenhower to check out her knee. She was then admitted for a few days to get a thorough examination.  I will save the rest of the story for her to tell, as only she knows how to tell a really good story…especially when she is the star of the action!

If you would like to send her some comments to this blog, she would love it.  If you would like to send her a card, she would enjoy that as well.   As in the words of Melitas, gifts not needed, tequila ok.

Here is her address:

Mondays with Melitas – September 9, 2013

Melitas is traveling back from spending a few days at a big reunion in San Juan Capistrano.  I am sure she will have lots of stories to tell of her adventure.  I am happy to report that I told Melitas to buy a device called Dragon Speak which will help her get her blogs to us.  Instead of her spending so much time typing out each little letter she will now be able to read her blog into the computer and the computer will type away…can’t wait to read what she will say next!!

Guest Blog by Jo Anne Gill – September 7, 2013

Those of you who have been in Palm Springs this summer can verify exactly what it is Jo Anne is talking about!  This is a piece about our weather lately!  Enjoy!

As I open the door

Expecting Azure sky

Steamy heat explodes upon my face

The monsoon has returned

In the tick of a moment

Mother Nature has turned an eye

Sandstorm, sirocco, dust devil

It has many names

Defilers of clean air

Blockers of the sun and stars

Black hued thunderclouds

Darken the afternoon sky

The crashing sound of

Giants clapping

Reverberates from the mountains to

The desert floor

Ahh….fresh water drips as tears

Covering all in its path

Winds return

Dispelling the clouds

Cicadas begin their song

The incessant buzzing

Alerts my companions

They lick their lips

Mouths salivating

Cicadas, alive or dead,

Are a perfect dog snack.
